Dr. Cichowicz graduated medical school maga-cume-laude in 2005. He attended Universidad Central Del Caribe in Puerto Rico, his country of birth. From there he went on to do his residency in psychiatry at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia from 2005-2009. After finishing his residency he did a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry also at Albert Einstein Medical Center 2009-2010. Additionally he obtained a fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy 2007-2008 and graduated from the adult psychodynamic psychotherapy program at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia 2008-2010. While at Albert Einstein he has also had extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and supportive psychotherapy.
After finishing his training Dr. Cichowicz returned to Puerto Rico and began working in private practice in 2010. He was at Santa Cruz Behavioral as an outpatient psychiatrist and at HIMA San Pablo Hospital where he provided inpatient psychiatry consultation to patients on the medical floors. Then in 2013 Dr. Cichowicz and his family moved to Palm Beach where he started Mindful Behavioral Health. It was at this time that he started working at Fair Oaks Pavilion, the mental health hospital of Delray Medical Center, as an inpatient psychiatrist and consultant on the hospital ward. While at Delray Medical Center he became associate professor of psychiatry at Florida Atlantic University school of medicine and since then he has been involved in teaching 3rd year medical students at FAU. In 2016 he helped pioneer Delray's Medical Center psychiatric emergency room which her ran until the end of 2017 at which point he turned his full efforts to outpatient care at Mindful Behavioral Health.
Dr. Cichowicz became interested in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) a new and cutting edge treatment for depression. He became certified to perform this procedure by attending the Duke University Fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and through Neurostar University. At present he is on of the most experienced TMS provider in the community.
In 2019 Dr. Cichowicz became a speaker for Spravato (esketamine), a Janssen pharmaceutical product, and he is not only providing this treatment in the office but educating other health care providers on it.
At present Dr. Cichowicz is also involved in clinical research.
Dr. Cichowicz specializes in treating depression and anxiety as well as in the treatment of all mental health issues in the geriatric population. His experience working in medical and psychiatric hospitals has made him aware of the myriad of interactions between medical issues and mental health.
Dr. Cichowicz is a co-owner and the Chief Medical Officer of Mindful Behavioral Health.
